Mitten Drive Update

Patrons, staff members, & YAC volunteers donated 87 items to the mitten drive! We were able to give the shelter one big box of mittens & hats (and even a box of coats that a patron dropped off today!), along with the boxes of items purchased with staff donations. Thanks goes out to everyone who donated and to Julie for delivering the items!

NEW CARD CATALOG

Aquabrowser is the new PALS catalog user interface that will be replacing IBISTRO in January.

Please take a minutes every time you work 8 to view the catalog as it is quite different from past catalogs. Do a few searches on various titles, make an account, etc.

There are likely to be quite a few questions once the Aquabrowser is live. (both on site and on the phone.) By the time each staff member should know the basics of maneuvering throughout the catalog.

This catalog is not for placing holds yet!

Cover up

Please put and leave the cover on the bookdrop cart that is in the hallway. This will keep the sharp edges covered for the patrons.
I know we need to find a way to keep staff from getting poked and we are working on that.

Internet Forms, etc.

If the patron (including kids) never filled out a form then they have to fill one out.

If the patron (including kids) has a form on file, that will work for the time being.

Children no longer need a parent in the room because the filters are in place. So they aren’t going anywhere they shouldn’t be going.

Adults 17 and up are the ONLY ones that can asked to be unfiltered.

We ordered a new time management software that will limit the length of time someone is on the computer.

This software will take the place of the computer forms also… a patron has to click “I agree” before they can log on.

We have the software but have to wait for our tech people to walk JS and me through it.
