Friday and Saturday Parking Lot

Dear Staff:

The roadway improvements on 151st Street are complete. We are keeping the adjacent shared entry to Woodbine closed at the present time. More on that at a later time.

The library parking lot is due for striping, repair and sealcoating. We have scheduled this to begin Friday afternoon and complete on Saturday, October 20th (subject to weather). The library needs to be closed on both Saturday and Sunday, with no traffic, as per the sealcoating company. This is subject to weather, so if it is raining heavy on Thursday or Friday this plan may be cancelled. Signs are posted to alert patrons.

FYI,
Sheree

LOST or DAMAGED ITEMS

We have a policy (procedure) on patrons replacing our books with the exact same edition by ISBN (International Standard Book Number).

BUT, we can't assume that other libraries have the same policy. Before telling someone they can replace a lost or damaged book, make sure it is our item. If it isn't ours we will need to call the owning library to see what their policy is on this.

Refer questions to me.
Jody

OUT OF SYSTEM ITEMS

If an item is from out of system at renewal one would have to override the renewal request.

DON'T override these! They need to go to Adult Services so the owning library can be asked if a renewal is allowed.

Maltese Falcon Movie @ Marcus Theater + Patrons

Through the Big Read Grant, the Maltese Falcon movie starring Humphrey Bogart will be showing at the Marcus Theater in Orland Park on Sunday, Oct 28 at 2 and 7. Tickets will be available to Homer patrons beginning Monday, Oct 15. We have a limited number of tickets for each showing so each patrons can only get two (2) tickets. We are not taking a waiting list, it's first come, first served. On October 24, we are opening the tickets to anyone, not only patrons of the participating libraries, i.e. Orland, Frankfort, or Tinley.

The movie is free (thanks to the grant) and patrons will have the opportunity to buy popcorn or pop at the theater. Admission is with ticket only. If we give out all our tickets, the patron may go to Orland, Frankfort, or Tinley Park libraries to see if they have any available. All four libraries will bring unclaimed tickets to Marcus that day so patrons can take a chance that they'll get in.

The yellow show tickets will be in an envelope on my desk on Oct 15. Please initial the box next to the ticket number on the sheet in the envelope. If you have any questions, please ask Kitty, Alex or me.

REMEMBER ONLY 2 TICKETS PER PATRON!
