Dear Staff:
We have heard many compliments about the “children reading on the bench” statue as an attractive visual that greets incoming customers.
It is our privilege to honor Barry Levine with this statue. This artwork was funded from donations added to the library budget. State Standards note that libraries, as cultural institutions should have a degree of artwork in place. The library is pleased to showcase this statue in memory of Barry, who was a wonderful library advocate, former trustee, and Homer Library Friend.
For the foreseeable future the statue will remain inside. A dedication ceremony is being planned for October 17 – at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. More details will be forthcoming soon. I hope many of you will attend.
It makes me very proud to have it here,
Sheree
